I find this story to be particularly upsetting.  It’s about 49 year-old recovering heroin addict Daniel Dockery and his 9-month-old cat Scruffy. Daniel brought in Scruffy who had an injury from a barbed wire fence, which the agency said it would cost $400 to fix. Daniel didn’t have the money and his mother was to wire the money to the agency. 2 hours later, they euthanized Scruffy. She was suppose to be surrendered over to foster care and be treated there. Scruffy helped Daniel stay clean for over a year. He hand fed her before she could open her eyes at 4 days old…
