Jesus Crackers, my first earthquake, on the east coast? OK so it goes, I was chopping up some Chaga mushroom, poking at it with a knife to break small bits from the larger piece, when all of a sudden the floor started to sway. I wasn’t immediately alarmed but thinking, what the bamboozle is this? It was a gentle swaying, like somebody is rocking your car back and fourth. Next thought: This isn’t normal, hm.. yep, the building is moving? Thought 3: Listening for anything out of the ordinary, a snapping or cracking sound, which would be my cue to get the fuck out in a hurry or hang on to something – meanwhile the floor is still swaying. Thought 4: Put on some clothes and get out to the street. Oh I almost forgot to mention that when it started moving the knife slipped and jabbed deep into my index finger, it wouldn’t have been half as fun without some kind of injury.

I recently finished an amazing game, Portal 2. The whole production is very well thought out, from the story to the dynamic music to the challenges, the quality is cinematic. Which reminds me you can download 2 parts of the OST (41 songs total) for free, here. Parts of the song are dynamic during the game play, it’s very immerse and there is a lot of mechanical animation that changes the floor and wall panels which lends to that and the expanse of the levels. Some of levels are enormous with concrete structures the size of skyscrapers surrounded by endless ceilings and bottomless floors. At times it has this kind of sci-fi 80′s nostalgia that I really appreciated, it’s subtle but the music really makes that happen.
pt 2.
The Booth at the End is great, you can watch the first season in its entirety on hulu. And if you’re into medical dramas (or just good programming) and haven’t been watching ITV1 for the last 7 years, then I can’t blame you for not hearing about Doc Martin, which hulu has all the seasons.
